Mrs. Hilda is working in the baby room. Mrs. Naouel and Mrs. Jessie are working with younger toddlers. Mrs. Alina and Mrs. Smita are teachers in toddler room 2. Mrs. Gina and Mrs. Kusum are working in the preschool room. Please feel free to ask the staff any questions about their classroom routines, your child’s participation, etc.

We would like to welcome Isabelle, Carter, Owen, Vanessa, Lukas, Harper, and Heidi this month.

Happy  2nd birthday to Jude, Drew, and Emily from toddler room 1.

Children in toddler room 1 and 2 were learning about different animals. The preschool room children are busy talking about weather changes, and birds migrating.

Children are still enjoying the nice weather and playing outside regularly.

Dear Parents,

Thank you for completing the parent surveys which were sent earlier this year. After carefully reviewing all of the responses, the staff and parent committee have gathered the following: more fresh produce in the menus, and more updates on your child’s day. These suggestions will be implemented this month.

Our parent committee continues to meet online and we have 2 new members who joined, Emily and Allison. All communications are done through email. If you’d like to join, please send an email to with the subject line “Parent Committee”.

Just a reminder, if you have any suggestions or ideas, feel free to put them in the suggestion box located at the daycare entrance.

Happy birthdays this month to Avica, Kyra, Deaglan, Harriet, and Quinn.

We would like to welcome Joseph back to our program who stayed home with his family last year.
This month we are learning about multicultural spring holidays such as Easter, Passover, etc. Teachers will be having a potluck and showing children items, books, etc. from their country. As always, parents are welcome to join our multicultural event.

We started our program with the Southwood Library and we had our first visit from a librarian. Children really enjoyed her stories and songs. We are continuing with our music program with Mr. Michael who played Violin for us.

The older preschool children will be visiting a senior’s residence facility to sing and dance for them. We also made and painted little tulips for each of them.

We would like to say a big Thank You to Mrs. Shirley from the Food Bank who came to visit and talked to the children about generosity, and giving to others. She also brought a big box for us to fill up with non-perishable food items to donate to the Food Bank. The donation box is located at the side entrance to the Preschool Room. We will be collecting food donations for the month of April.

Dear Parents,

Happy birthday to Arizona, Jaden, Sutter, and Michael this month.

We would like to welcome Quinn to our program.

We had many exciting things to talk about and celebrate this past month. It all started with an exciting Chinese New Years celebration where we decorated the classroom and brought out special dress up items. We also had fun predicting the weather and making groundhogs for groundhog day. We always enjoy celebrating Valentines day and talking about families for Family day.  All the children made Valentines gifts for their families, and made cards for each other. We learned that being a good friend means cooperation, sharing, giving, and accepting compliments and apologies.

The children love pets, so we discussed different pets, what sounds they make, what they eat, and where they live.  We also started talking about fruits and vegetables because we want to be healthy.

March is national reading month, so we will read some new stories and we invite the children to bring their favorite books so they can share them with all our friends. We will be learning about different types of weather, such as wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. For Saint Patrick’s Day, we will be making some leprechauns, pots of gold, and rainbows. Children can dress up in green on Friday March 16th.

Dear Parents,

We would like to welcome Maxim, Bodhi, Gweneth, Livvy, and Yasim to the daycare this month.

Happy birthdays to Gweneth, Livvy, Maya, Alexie, Iyla, Hayden, and Isabelle.

Please note: Our daycare will be closed Monday February 19 for Family Day.

We know that parents are busy and have a limited amount of free time; as a result we are proposing a parent committee communicate via email regarding any questions or suggestions in order to improve your child’s experience in our program. If you would like to join our parent committee, please contact us directly at with the subject line “parent committee”.

It is such a pleasure to watch every child in our program learn and grow. It is a joy to see them explore and develop new skills. Our programming is still based upon the observations and child interests. Staff in each room are completing observations of different aspects and skills of each child on a monthly basis. If parents have not yet asked to see the observations, please feel free to speak to any staff member.

We have lots of exciting things happening in our Toddler Rooms. We have seen a big improvement in many of the children’s self help skills (cleaning up, dressing themselves, potty training) over the course of this month. It has been so much fun to share in their excitement over their accomplishments. If your toddler is ready for toilet training, please talk to staff about this transition.

We had a very fun January doing many crafts and activities related to winter. This month, our focus will be on diversity, families, and how they are different from one another. Children in the Preschool Room will have a Valentine’s Day Party on Wednesday February 14. Parents are welcome to bring cards or treats for the children in the room.  Please ask staff for the list of children in the group for the Valentines cards.

Our outdoor time is very important, so we would like to ask you to bring warm clothes with your child every day as we spend long periods of time outside playing and exploring.

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the new year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. December was action packed with preparation for Christmas. Our Christmas party on December 8 was well attended. It was so good to see that so many extended family members were able to attend. I hope everybody enjoyed our performances. All the kids loved Santa Claus who came to the party. All the staff would like to thank parents for nice Christmas gifts.

This year again in each room, staff is writing monthly observations about each child in the child’s individual book. If any of the parents would like to view their child’s observation book, please talk to staff.

Happy birthday to Brandon, Michael, Anders, Sadie, Jacob, Eliza, and Aubree this month.

For those of you that aren’t aware, we have an online parent committee. We discuss different issues that are related to our program. This month we will be reviewing our parent handbook, focusing on our policies and procedures. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. We would like to invite everyone who is interested, to email: with Parent Committee as the subject line. If you don’t have a parent handbook handy, please ask Mrs. Jane.
