Dear Parents,

The daycare will be closed on Monday May 22 for Victoria Day.

We would like to welcome our new teacher Mrs. Kayleigh. She is an Early Childhood Educator with 8 years of experience and recently moved from BC with her family. She is working with Mrs. Ina in Toddler Room 2.

We would like to welcome Micah and Lillian to our room. We wish Frankie and Riley all the best as they move to Toddler Room 1. We are sure they will have a great time with their teachers and new friends.

In May we will talk about farms, rain, and zoo animals.

Our babies are growing:

Hadley is very social, and easily gets along with all the children in the room. She is learning how to share toys and taking turns during play.

Eta is very gentle. She likes to dance and sing with her friends. Her favorite song is Baby Shark.

Levi is a very active boy. He likes to run, climb, and can build towers with 4 blocks.

Isabella is sensitive and sweet. She is always showing kindness to other kids. Her favorite activity is catching bubbles outside.

Briar’s language development is improving very quickly. She can name and point to each of her new friends. She repeats every word the teacher says.

Paul is very enthusiastic. He knows how to say Mom, Dad, More, and can say the names of his friends. He likes to play with cars and ride bikes.

Harper has adapted to the daycare routine and is very happy. She is always eager to run and play outside. When she sees her friends, she always says WOW.

Happy Birthday to Hazel!

This month we are diving into Spring themes, such as Rain, Gardening, and Insects.

Rain Rain Go Away, just kidding. We are all grateful for the rain to help make the trees and grass green again. The children will have lots of fun singing that song though. We will paint umbrellas and raindrops and read books about rainy days.

The second week we will talk about Mother’s Day. This is a special holiday where we’ll be singing about our mom’s, and creating a special game for them too. Children will be learning the song I Love My Mommy.

Carrots, cabbages, turnips, oh my! Garden season is fast approaching. We’ll be talking and learning about fruits and vegetables and planting some seeds.

Creepy crawlers are starting to come out of hiding. We’ll be painting lady bugs, cutting stripes for bumble bees, and pasting wings on butterflies. We’re all going to march with the song The Ants Go Marching.

Happy Birthday to Violet and Eva!

With the weather warming up, we decided to continue the Spring theme, and added on some other interesting bugs we may find coming out from hiding. We will then celebrate our mom’s, and move onto our farm theme.

This last month has been so much fun learning about Spring. Spring, Mr. Sun, and different types of weather. The children have enjoyed singing and moving to the Mr. Sun song. Currently their favorite song to sing together is Slippery Fish. The children have also had the opportunity to learn about rain. Different types of rain storms that can happen including thunder and lightning storms. They have been able to create fun rain themes, such as jumping in puddles in their rain boots.

There are many kinds of bugs children are going to be able to start finding, and we decided to have children learn more about the types of insects they will find out in the yard and sometimes in our homes. We will study ants, lovely lady bugs, beautiful butterflies and more.

With Mother’s Day coming up, the children are very excited to start making beautiful creations for their mommy’s. We’ll be reading books about mothers.

During the Farm theme, children will explore different homes for animals, and the different types of animals found around the farm. We will be singing Old Macdonald Had A Farm, as well as Five Little Butterflies.

We will also be stretching it out with cosmic kids yoga stories that children love. We will be reading the Very Clumsy Click Beetle, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and I Don’t Want To Be A Frog.

It is filled with fun, natural materials, such as branches, pine cones, twigs and leaves, for children to explore, as well as some toy lady bugs, caterpillars, beetles, grasshoppers, etc. The children are having so much fun exploring these natural materials. By the end of the month, we will introduce a pond habitat in our sensory table which will be filled with frogs, lilly pads, fish, and turtles.
