Baby Room

In the month of February we learned about winter weather, colors, clothes, and body parts. We also read books, sang songs, and made arts and crafts about winter.

All the children made Valentines gifts for their families, and made cards for each other.

The children love pets, so we discussed different pets, what sounds they make, what they eat, and where they live. We also started talking about fruits and vegetables because we want to be healthy.

Trinity, Larissa and Jada are developing language skills very quickly. They know how to say childrens names, and some other words.

With the weather warming up, we will be going outside a lot more, so please dress your child weather-appropriate.

This month we will be talking about spring, weather in spring, spring clothes and St. Patrick’s Day.

Alina, MeiToddler Room

March is finally here, and the weather will hopefully start to get warmer. This month, we will be missing Steve because he is moving away. We hope he has lots of fun in his new daycare.

St. Patricks Day is on March 17th, and to celebrate this, we will talk about Ireland and we will make all sorts of crafts using the color green.

We will also talk about rain! We are going to sing and learn a new song called “Singing in the Rain”. Hopefully, there will be some puddles that the children can splash in. We will also sing other songs, such as : “Rain, rain go away” and “It’s raining, its pouring”.

If your child has a favorite book or song they love, please bring it in and we can share it with the whole class.

Dione, Tami

Preschool Room

This month, we would like to say happy birthday to Sasha and Diana. We would like to welcome back our old friends, Samim and Tamim.

March is national reading month, so we will read some new stories and we invite the children to bring their favorite books so they can share them with all our friends. We will be learning about different types of weather, such as wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. For Saint Patrick’s Day, we will be making some leprechauns, pots of gold, and rainbows.

Please don’t forget that every Thursday, there is Show N’ Share time in our room. Your child can bring their favorite things to show and talk about.
We are very excited for warmer weather, so we can go outside more often.

Our daycare will be closed Monday February 15 2010 for Family Day and we will re-open on Tuesday February 16 2010.

Congratulations to Stacey on the birth of her baby daughter on January 1.

We still would love to take the children outside, but they need to have appropriate clothes. Can parents please bring appropriate clothes for playing outside.

This month we will be sending out parent surveys, and we would like to get everyone’s feedback.

Yours Truly,

Jane Pevzner

Baby Room

In January we learned about winter from every aspect (snow, colors, winter clothes). Children made a lot of crafts with different materials (glue, paint fabric) and observed how snow turned to ice and water.

The childrens’ favorite song that we sung every morning was “Hello…It’s nice to see you here.” They learned friends names from this song.

We would like to welcome back Hunter, who is 1 year old now. Larissa and Trinity are learning to talk and they like craft activities very much. Jada is starting to eat by herself and loves books. Caleigh is very independent, she is eating and sleeping without help. Justin is learning to talk, share toy, and be gentle with his friends. Egor is adjusting very well and isn’t crying when his mom leaves.

In February we will be celebrating family day, so please bring some pictures of children and the family.

Alina, Mei

Toddler Room

We would like to welcome Daniel, Riley, and Samim to our room.

In February we will be talking about family and Valentines Day. For our crafts, we will be using lots of red and pink colors.

We still like to go outside every day, so please dress your child appropriately. We will be continuing our projects about me and my family, so please send 4 or 5 pictures of your child.

We would like to say goodbye to Billy, who is staying home with his mom.

This month we’ll be doing lots of valentines crafts. Please make sure each child has a spare set of clothes in case of an accident or messy art+craft projects.

Dione, Tami

Preschool Room

We would like to welcome Nick, Diana and Tamim to our room. This month we are making Valentines cards. Our Valentines party will be on Friday, February 12. If you would like to send some Valentines treats and cards to the daycare, you are welcome. Please ask Olga for the list of children in the group for the Valentines cards. With family days coming, we will be talking a lot about our families and how they are different from one another.

Happy birthday to Grace and Jaxon this month.

Every Thursday we will be starting our Show N Share time, so children can bring something to share with friends at circle time.

Dear Parents:

December was action packed with preparation for Christmas. Our Christmas party, on December 18, was well attended. It was so good to see that so many extended family members were able to attend. I hope everybody enjoyed our performances. All the children loved Santa Claus who came to the party and the magic show by Richard the Magician. All the staff would like to thank parents for their nice Christmas gifts.

This year again, in each room, staff will be writing monthly observations about each child in the child’s individual book. If any of the parents would like to view their child’s observation book, please talk to staff.

It’s sad to see our baby room teacher Stacey go, but we will wish her all the best and hopefully in a year she will come back with her baby.

Yours Truly,

Jane Pevzner

Baby Room

Happy New Year to everyone! It was very nice to see all our babies and their families at the Christmas Party on December 18. Everyone is adjusting well to our room routine, they know when it’s story time, or craft time. Larissa and Trinity are starting to talk and Egor is not crying anymore and likes to play with our toys. As a reminder, please send extra clothes for your children as we get dirty when we eat, and doing some craft activities.

January 7 will be the last day for me (Stacey) to be working with your babies, as I will be leaving for maternity leave. Mei, who used to work in the baby room last year, will be replacing me.

Stacey, Alina

Toddler Room

Happy New Year, and all the best for 2010. We would like to wish a happy 3d birthday to Kimora and would like to welcome Riley to our room. We have had a lot of sand play in the last month as the cold weather is keeping us inside. We have also been learning about Winter, Winter weather and animals. In January, we are planning to learn about parts of our body, learn new songs, games, and making lots of arts and crafts activities. Hopefully the weather will improve and we can make a snowman and discuss his different body parts. This month, we’ll be focusing on language development by reading stories and asking children different question. We will start working on letters of the alphabet and trying to teach children to recognize them. We will also be learning to count up to 10.

Dione, Tami

Preschool Room

We hope everybody had nice Christmas holidays. This month we’ll be talking about snow. We will continue talking about the letters of the alphabet, and counting up to 20. The weather was very cold and we spent many days playing inside, so instead of water in the water table, we will bring snow from outside so children can put their gloves on and play with the snow. We also had a few experiments where we put a glass of water in the freezer, and it turned into ice. When the weather gets warmer, we would like to go outside, so please send all of your child’s outdoor gear so they can enjoy the fresh air. For all the kindergarten parents, please inform the staff about special school closure days. Staff is asking the parents not to bring any Kraft Dinner for your child’s lunch. We would like to wish happy birthday to Colby and Aaliyah who will be turning 5.

This month, children will be learning about Remembrance Day, poppies, hibernation, and how different animals are getting ready for Winter.

Happy birthday wishes go to Riley and Tal this month.

We usually do our Halloween Costume Parade in each room, and children 3 years and older will having their parade around the block (if the weather will be nice).

With the flu season approaching, please keep your children home if they are not feeling well.

I will be starting to write little observations about the children (their development, habits, favorite activities). Parents are welcome to read them and make comments.

If you any bibs that your child does not use anymore, we would be happy to accept them.

It looks like winter has already arrived. Please bring snow boots, snow pants, warm jackets, hats, scarves and gloves, so when we venture outside, we are all bundled up nicely. Also, please bring a couple of changes of clothes, in case they get wet when we are playing with the water table, or messy when we are finger painting.

Note: Sometimes we have big confusions with children’s belongings, so parents please LABEL all your children’s items that you bring to the daycare (clothes, jackets, Sippy-Cups, etc.)

If you have any Holiday decorations that you don’t need anymore, please bring them to us. We can use them for crafts.
